Part of the excitement of fly fishing is trying to figure out the puzzle. We anchored at a spot we have fished with success before and there were fish bouncing all around the shoreline. I could not immediately see anything they were slashing at so we tried several different flies. For a bit of time we stayed in the spot presenting morsels that they were not interested in. We didn’t solve the puzzle till we drifted down into calmer water. I was looking down into the calm water and I could see pale spinners on the surface and below the surface. They were tiny maybe size 24-26. Some were even fluttering around the boat but so tiny they were. The river was full of them and of course we could not see this where we were anchored because the current was fast. So puzzle solved but didn’t catch a fish on one, because we were at the end of the float. It was amazing to see, something I have only generally read about.
