For the friend who introduced me to fly fishing. He will remain nameless, but had it not been for meeting him and having him tell me countless stories of his extreme passion for fly fishing, I am fairly sure I would never had explored it.

I remember I asked and asked for him to take me out and he finally gave in one hot summer afternoon. I got off work and we got into the truck and drove East. I had no idea what to anticipate, but it didn’t take more than 10 minutes in the water watching him wave his rod over the water. It was magical and surreal the warm breeze, the sound of the fly line zipping through the guides, the cold water streaming through my legs and I was instantly hooked. Quite literally. Lol

Since then I have discovered a new world of water, currents, entomology, casting and of course fish. I have been to so many places I would have never imagined and met so many people through this sport. Learned how to build a fly rod, tie flies, watch the hatch, tag bull trout and even teach younger ones this wonderful thing.

So thank you .. ….. For showing, teaching, being patient and starting me in this lovely sport. I no longer stay in contact with my friend but I have no doubt he would be surprised how much passion I have developed and how much I have learned.
