Approaching the End

Tomorrow Goodwill is coming by to pick up the items that didn’t sell    The house is empty with the exception of a few minor items my sister is taking.

The gentleman across the street has put a cash offer in on the home. It is valued a bit less than some of the estimates I received, but my mom is happy with it.  There are some major major things that would need to be fixed, and he is willing to purchase it “as is”.  So I have stressed a bit about whether I should counter with a bit more or just let it be.

I have calculated I have spent over four weeks of time cleaning the home out.  This time was time spent after work or on the weekends.

My mom hoarded very odd things.  Lamp shades, food, so much food, all outdated, pounds and pounds of dried milk.  We took over two tons of garbage to the dump.  And there are two more loads to go.

The last few days have been brutally hot and stressful.  I want to make sure I am doing the right thing for my mom.  I don’t want to make an incorrect decision and have my sis or brother angry with me.

Once everything is finalized I am planning a long day on the river casting my cares away.  Watching the peaceful water flow by.

A new chapter of life.
