Where I’m From
By Azadeh F.
Inspired by “Where I’m From” By George Ella Lyon
I am from carpets,
From pens and Tide.
I am from the small house with a garden.
( The roses are wilted, but soft.)
I am from the raspberries,
the lemon tree,
Old,but fine.
I’m from Norooz and monkey toes,
from Mom Dad and Lochlan.
I’m from I love you little and Game Night,
and from movies.
I’m from Sacramento and America.
Chocolate cake and Fat noodle soup.
from baby Lochlan brought home,
and my first black belt.
We keep these in our minds , and on the mantle.
I am from those moments-
Worth more than I can say.
My beautiful niece Azadeh Finn wrote a poem inspired from George Ella Lyon, for her school project. I received permission to post it on here as I find it so insightful and deep.
