Light Coming Through

Like most everyone, this last year has been rough. Unable to have my children/grandchildren over, restaurant still closed, and things in life seem to be fading away in front of my eyes.

I have tried to keep a positive face in light of all, but some days seem so difficult. I get messages from my co-workers and how they are struggling, I get messages from my friends, they are struggling.

Knowing shots are going in arms, things are starting to perk up, like the garden, the almond tree, the plum trees, my clematis. These little things bring the hope that this is not going to last forever.

I am ever hopeful to get my first vaccine by the end of this month. Mom and Hubby will get their second vaccine next week. Dad is fully vaccinated. By Persian New Year, maybe we can all celebrate with a meal, or just some warm hugs. I am hopeful.

Black Lives Matter

Four weeks ago or more Alan and I made a conscious decision to show our support to the BLM movement. One of the small ways we did was placing a sign in our yard showing our support.

Yesterday someone or some persons decided to trespass on our yard and attach an extremely racist print out to the sign. In short-it was stated we were racist and Marxist for believing in this movement and awareness. It also said outright how much better the United States would be if there was no black population. There was a lot of falsehoods and rambling of percentages about why black people should not be here. Sad we felt a small amount of this hatred when black people feel this way most everyday.

It saddened me that there are many people that actually believe in the rhetoric. I’m all for open, intelligent, and peaceful conversation regarding this. I am even open to mindfully listen to why someone may believe this, but I do not stand for hatred of anyone because of race, religion or belief.

On a side note this racist letter directed at us was printed out with margins cut out, and white out all over it. Just proves that the intelligence of this person or persons is lacking in all areas.

On a double side note there was a “Christian” brochure attached to the note stating the corona virus is a hoax and believing in God and having faith would take care of this non virus. 😂🤣 As I was told long ago, YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID.

Grief but Grateful

2020 started hopeful. New Year, New Decade and then well as most everyone is saying… when will this year be over?

Staring in January with the death of my step mother.

February cancer treatments for dad and grief for the loss of his wife.

March=pandemic and loss of job and normal life as I know.

April-chest pains begin and I dismiss to stress and/or working in garden and around the house to stay busy

May- heart attack. Five days in hospital with uncertainty and feeling very alone.

June- birth of third grandson Theo. Was able to be with my daughter as she gave birth then not to be seen again for five days as only one person in hospital.

June to now-traveled to Sacramento to help my sister and family while she is having her transition surgery. My niece and nephew are awesome and it’s so nice to be around new scenery although not outside of the house much.

Even these uncertain times with pandemic, protests and hatred I am grateful. Grateful for my family each and everyone of them down to the littlest person who reached 9 lbs today. Grateful for the diversity in my life. Grateful for the love I have to share with anyone wanting to reach out. Grateful even for when I was discriminated and beaten up as a child for being Iranian in the US during the hostage crisis so I can be more empathetic to what is happening around me now. I cannot even imagine living in fear daily as some of my friends, co workers and acquaintances do every day. I want to teach my grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and even myself how to love sincerely. Show compassion, be the best I can be.
